You know what’s Not on Roids, but is definitely ruining public spaces? People glued to their phones. Seriously! According to a recent poll – and I use poll loosely because 74% of Americans apparently agree with me – phone rudeness in public is the most annoying thing people encounter. Let that sink in. More annoying than pigeons, more annoying than toddlers having meltdowns over broccoli, MORE ANNOYING THAN BROCCOLI ITSELF!
We’ve created a society where staring blankly at a glowing rectangle takes precedence over basic human interaction. I saw a woman nearly walk into a fountain the other day because she was too busy scrolling through TikTok. A FOUNTAIN! And apparently, Im not alone in my frustration. 74% of Americans. That’s almost three-quarters of the population silently judging each others phone habits.
What is it with these people? Are they expecting a personal Oscar nomination for their ability to ignore the world around them while simultaneously documenting it for Instagram? Is that vital business negotiation happening in line at Starbucks? I highly doubt it!
It’s not just talking loudly, either; it’s the aggressive thumbs, the constant head bobbing, the oblivious bumping into things because youre completely absorbed in Candy Crush. Put the phone down! Look around! Acknowledge that a human being exists within your proximity! Its simple courtesy. 74% of us are begging you to just… stop. Please. For our sanity.
