On Saturday night, residents of the Carolinas were left gazing at the sky in wonder after an object resembling a meteor streaked across the night sky. However, experts have now revealed that the object was actually a SpaceX rocket.
The rocket, which had been launched from Florida earlier in the day, had been intended to deliver a satellite into orbit. However, it seems that Elon Musk and his team failed to properly communicate with the Carolinians, who were left believing that the end of the world was nigh.
Witnesses described seeing a bright red object with a long tail hurtling through the sky. Many believed the object was a meteor – perhaps even a sign of the beginning of the apocalypse.
“I was so scared,” said Mary Smith, a resident of Charlotte. “I thought it was the end of days. I even called my ex-husband to apologize for all the mean things I said to him. I thought it was time to forgive and forget.”

Some conspiracy theorists have even speculated that the SpaceX rockets are intentionally designed to cause panic, as part of a sinister, government-led plot. However, experts have dismissed these claims, pointing out that it’s much more likely that Musk is just really, really bad at PR.
NASA has also chimed in on the debate, pointing out that it has been working to improve communication between astronauts, scientists and earthlings. In the future, they promise, we will be informed ahead of time when a SpaceX launch is set to take place.
In the meantime, residents of the Carolinas are still coming to terms with the fact that the exciting, potentially apocalyptic event they witnessed was simply a rocket. Many have written angry letters to their local council, demanding that something be done about the “lies” they were fed.
