Speedcuber Combines Puzzle-Solving Skills with Juggling Proficiency, Shatters World Record

In a stunning display of multitasking, a Chinese speedcuber has smashed the Rubik’s Cube world record by solving three cubes in just over three minutes while juggling.

The achievement, which took place at the Beijing Cube Open competition, has left Rubik’s enthusiasts scratching their heads and questioning what other talents they need to develop to keep up.

Zhang Yixing, a 22-year-old from Guangzhou, has been practicing cubing for over a decade and juggling for nearly as long. “I started cubing when I was 11 and took up juggling at 14,” he said. “It just seemed natural to combine the two.”

Wearing a bright red jumpsuit, Yixing looked relaxed as he juggled three cubes while solving them one by one. Cheers erupted from the crowd when the timer stopped at 3 minutes and 16 seconds, beating the previous record by a whopping 15 seconds.

“I’m delighted with the result,” said Yixing, who is known as “The Cube Juggler” in cubing circles. “It’s been a dream of mine to break the record and show the world what I can do.”

Yixing’s extraordinary feat has sparked a heated debate among Rubik’s Cube enthusiasts, with many calling for juggling to be included as a separate event at competitions. “It’s unfair that some people can solve a cube in seconds while others struggle for minutes,” said one disgruntled cuber. “At least with juggling, we all start on a level playing field.”

Others have dismissed Yixing’s accomplishment as a mere novelty, arguing that solving a Rubik’s Cube while juggling is no more impressive than solving it blindfolded or with one hand. “It’s all just showing off,” said another cuber. “I’d rather focus on my times than my circus skills.”

Regardless of the controversy surrounding Yixing’s record, there’s no denying that his achievement is a remarkable one. It takes most people an average of 30 seconds per cube just to solve them, let alone juggle them at the same time. Yixing’s success is a testament to his dedication, skill, and creativity in the face of a challenge.

“I don’t know what else I’ll be able to accomplish in the future,” said Yixing, as he celebrated his victory with a group of friends. “But I know I’ll keep practicing and pushing myself. Who knows what I’ll come up with next?”
