**BREAKING: Lemur Invasion Rocks Small Texas Town, Residents Baffled**

In a bizarre series of events, the usually quiet town of Pecos, Texas, has been overrun by an unexpected and exotic visitor: a lemur on the loose. Multiple eyewitnesses have come forward claiming to have spotted the furry, long-tailed primate roaming the streets, causing widespread confusion and delight among residents.

“I was sippin’ sweet tea on my porch when I saw this… this thing,” said local resident, Bubba Jenkins. “It was like a cross between a monkey and a fluffy pillow, but with big, round eyes and a hairdo that looked like it had stuck its finger in a socket. I swear, it was wearin’ a tiny little cowboy hat and everything!”

The lemur, estimated to be around 2 feet in length and sporting a distinctive grey and white coat, has been spotted in various locations throughout Pecos, including the local Walmart parking lot, the town’s favorite BBQ joint, and even the Pecos County Courthouse.

“I was in the middle of a heated debate with the judge about a traffic ticket when suddenly, this lemur jumps onto the bench and starts munchin’ on a bag of Cheetos,” said Pecos County Commissioner, Jimmy Joe Bob. “I mean, I’ve seen some weird stuff in my time, but this was somethin’ else. I reckon it was tryin’ to pay its fine in snacks.”

While authorities are still trying to determine the origin of the lemur, theories abound. Some believe it may have escaped from a private exotic pet collection, while others speculate that it may be a clever marketing ploy to promote the town’s new “Pecos Primate Festival” – a wildly popular event that was cancelled due to lack of interest.

As the search for the lemur continues, residents are being advised to remain calm and not attempt to approach or feed the animal. However, local business owner, Sally Sue Thompson, has taken a more… unconventional approach.

“I’m offerin’ a $100 reward for anyone who can catch that lemur and bring it to my hair salon,” she said. “I’ve got a special ‘lemur-sized’ hairdo package that’ll make it look like a million bucks. And who knows, maybe we can even get it to do a few tricks for the Pecos Primate Festival revival!”

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story, and in the meantime, keep those Cheetos close and the lemur treats closer!
