**BREAKING: Slug Saga Unfolds in German Apartment Complex**
In a bizarre incident that has left authorities and residents alike in stitches, a brazen slug was apprehended by German police for repeatedly ringing doorbells in a Hamburg apartment building, disrupting the peace and quiet of the normally tranquil neighborhood.
According to eyewitnesses, the slug, identified as a particularly feisty member of the species _Limax maximus_, was seen sliming its way up the front steps of the building and making its way to the intercom system, where it would press the doorbell button with its slimy foot.
“It was like it had a vendetta against our doorbell,” said Ursula Müller, a resident of the building. “I mean, who needs that kind of stress at 2am?”
Police were called to the scene, and upon arrival, they found the slug still perched on the intercom, looking remarkably pleased with itself.
“We were expecting a gang of rowdy teenagers or maybe a disgruntled ex-boyfriend, but a slug? That was a new one,” said Officer Hans Schmidt, who made the arrest. “I’ve been on the force for 20 years, and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
The slug, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and excessive slime production.
As authorities attempted to book the slug, it allegedly left a trail of goo on the police car’s dashboard, causing officers to slip and slide their way around the vehicle.
“It was like it was trying to make a break for it,” said Officer Schmidt, shaking his head in amazement. “I’ve seen some slippery characters in my time, but this one takes the cake – or should I say, the snail trail?”
The slug is currently being held at a local animal control facility, where it is receiving counseling for its bell-ringing addiction.
In related news, residents of the apartment building have started a petition to install slug-proof doorbells and are considering forming a neighborhood watch to prevent future slug-related incidents.
As one resident quipped, “Who needs a burglar alarm when you have a slug on the loose?”
