Ontario Premier Doug Ford recently delivered a stirring speech to residents, urging them to refrain from doing one particular thing while enjoying the beautiful beaches in the province: pooping. Yes, that’s right folks, in this day and age, the leader of our province had to remind people not to poop in public places.
In what can only be described as a monumental moment in Canadian history, Ford warned beachgoers against engaging in this heinous act, stating that “there’s nothing worse than stepping on a turd, or somebody else’s business, when you’re walking on the beach.” It’s hard to argue with logic like that, isn’t it?
Ford went on to remind residents that “the beach is not a bathroom,” and that there are toilets available for public use. Some might say this is common sense, but apparently, there are enough people out there who need to be told otherwise.
It’s perplexing that the Premier of Ontario had to take time out of his busy schedule to remind adults to use the appropriate facilities when nature calls. One would think that this is something that would be taught in kindergarten, but apparently, there are still some who have not yet grasped the idea.
To be fair, Ford did acknowledge that accidents can happen, and that young children and dogs can sometimes make a mess on the beach. However, he made it clear that adults should know better, and that it’s not only unsanitary but also disrespectful to other beachgoers.
This incident begs the question: what has the world come to when the Premier of Ontario has to remind grown adults not to poop on the beach? It’s not like we’re in the middle of a global pandemic or anything. Oh wait… we are.
Perhaps this is why Ford felt the need to make this announcement. After all, during these uncertain times, people’s logic and reasoning seem to have gone out the window. Maybe we should be grateful that the Premier is looking out for us and our beaches.
In conclusion, it’s sad that we live in a world where reminders like this are necessary. But hey, if it means keeping our beaches clean and sanitary, then so be it. Let’s hope that the message sinks in, and we can all go back to enjoying our beaches without having to worry about stepping in anything unpleasant.
