Local authorities in North Bend have sprung into action after four furry fugitives escaped from their trailer on the highway earlier this week. The group of zebras, known for their striking black and white stripes and penchant for sassiness, were on their way to a nearby zoo when they made their daring break for freedom.

While three of the zebras were quickly apprehended and brought back into custody, one remains at large and is currently the subject of a desperate search by local law enforcement. Surprisingly, the remaining zebra has managed to evade capture for several days now, despite being quite conspicuous with their unique markings.

Residents in the area have been warned to be on the lookout for the elusive four-legged escapee, who is said to be highly skilled in the art of blending in with their surroundings. Reports suggest that the zebra has been spotted blending in with a herd of cows, masquerading as a particularly convincing dairy product.

In a statement released earlier today, the zoo responsible for transporting the errant zebras expressed their deep regret at the incident.

“We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused and are working with local authorities to capture the remaining zebra safely and securely,” the statement read. “We assure the public that we are taking all necessary measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.”

Despite the zoo’s assurances, rumors are already swirling that the uncaught zebra has been sighted engaging in various illicit activities, including joyriding in stolen cars and impersonating a meerkat.

Local residents have mixed feelings about the situation. While some are concerned for the well-being of the remaining zebra and hope for its safe return to captivity, others are rooting for the underdog (or under-zebra, if you will) and cheering their brazen attempt at freedom.

“I say let the zebra run wild and free!” exclaimed one local resident. “Who are we to deny them their natural instincts and desire for adventure? Plus, they really rock those stripes.”

At the time of publication, the remaining zebra is still at large and authorities continue their search. While the outcome of the situation remains uncertain, one thing is clear: this zebra is definitely not going down without a fight (or a pun-filled news article).
