Residents of Naples, Florida were in for a shock yesterday when they discovered an alligator enjoying the summer sun in their neighborhood. Police were immediately called to the scene to deal with the trespassing reptile.

It is unknown if the alligator had a reservation for the sunbed or if it was just trying to get a nice tan, but regardless, it was not welcome in this gated community.

The police department’s brave and highly-trained alligator disposal unit was immediately dispatched and within minutes, the alligator was chased back into the swamps. “It was a tough job, but we are glad we could protect the residents from this vicious creature,” said one of the officers.

The community was understandably shaken by the incident. “I can’t believe this happened here,” said one resident. “We pay so much money to live in a gated community and we expect better security.”

The alligator, who chose to remain anonymous, declined to comment on the matter. However, he did mention that he enjoyed the experience and that he will be back for some more sunbathing. “I’ve never felt more alive,” said the alligator. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this relaxed in my life.”

While some residents were shocked at the audacity of the alligator, others tried to find a silver lining in the situation. “At least we don’t have to worry about mosquitoes anymore,” said one resident.

“Maybe we should have more alligators in the community,” said another resident. “They could help with the landscaping and keep everything tidy. I mean, who needs a lawn mower when you have an alligator?”

The alligator incident has left many in the community wondering what other creatures may be sneaking into their neighborhoods. “We need to be more vigilant,” said one resident. “We can’t just have any old reptile lounging around here. This is a gated community!”

The police department has reassured residents that they are doing everything in their power to keep them safe from local wildlife. “We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for alligators,” said the officer in charge. “Unless they are sunbathing and looking cute, then we don’t mind.”

Despite the alligator’s brief visit, the community remains strong and resilient. “We won’t let this alligator scare us off,” said one resident. “We will continue to enjoy our sunshine and the beautiful Florida weather. After all, these alligators have been living here long before us. It’s their home too.”
