Arizona, USA – After clinching the World Series title, a celebration was in order for the Texas Rangers. Unfortunately, their plans for a refreshing pool party had to be cancelled due to some party poopers.
A dozen security officers were seen guarding the pool located behind the right-center wall at Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Apparently, they were worried about the Rangers’ rowdy behavior and possible damage to the pool. Because, you know, Major League Baseball players are notorious for causing destruction wherever they go.
It’s not like the Rangers had just achieved something historic or anything. Winning their first championship in franchise history doesn’t warrant a little splash around, does it? It’s not like they had been playing their hearts out for months on end, enduring the grueling baseball season with sweat, blood, and tears. No, they definitely shouldn’t have been allowed a little dip in the pool.
One can only imagine the kind of pandemonium that could have ensued had the players been given access to the pool. They could have potentially caused thousands of dollars in damage with their wild splashing and enthusiastic cannonballs. Who knows, maybe they would have even tried to recreate the famous pool scene from the movie “Caddyshack.” The horror!
Thankfully, the security officers had their priorities straight and prevented any possible aquatic catastrophe. It’s much more important to protect a swimming pool than to allow a group of well-deserving athletes to celebrate their success.
The Rangers players were seen milling around the clubhouse, looking dejected and disappointed at missing out on their much-anticipated pool party. They had even brought their swimsuits and floaties in anticipation of the refreshing dip. However, they were denied their simple pleasure by the unyielding security guards.
It’s a sad day when we can’t let the boys play. It’s almost as if we don’t value the joy and celebration that comes with sports. Winning a championship is a rare and amazing feat that should be celebrated in any way possible. But hey, what’s more important than the integrity of a swimming pool?
