Oregon Sanctuary Claims Steer Named “Romeo” May be Tallest in the World; We’re Seriously Impressed

In news that is making everyone question what they really know about the animal kingdom, an animal sanctuary in Oregon says that a Holstein steer named Romeo may be the tallest in the world at an impressive 6 feet and 3 inches tall. We’re seriously impressed – mostly because we can’t imagine a cow being taller than us.

Romeo, who weighs over 2,500 pounds, joined the sanctuary after being saved from a local auction. The volunteers at the sanctuary were shocked when they first saw the bovine behemoth, and they immediately suspected that he might be the tallest steer in the world. However, they haven’t yet had the opportunity to have a Guinness World Records representative come to measure him.

Now, we’re no experts on cows, but we can say with confidence that 6 feet and 3 inches is really tall. That’s taller than most of the NBA players out there, and we’re pretty sure that Romeo would give them a run for their money when it comes to making slam dunks. And can you imagine the size of the cups he must drink milk out of? It’s probably a full bathtub!

Some might be wondering what having the tallest steer in the world really achieves, other than a cool Instagram post or two. Well, we can think of a few things. For one, Romeo could probably reach things on high shelves that we can’t. He could also help with certain chores around the house, like changing lightbulbs in high ceilings. Plus, imagine how intimidating it would be if you were lost in the woods and stumbled across a towering cow like Romeo. We’re betting you’d turn around and head back to civilization pretty quickly.

Of course, having a 6-foot-tall cow isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Romeo’s height means that he requires a lot of space, and he eats a whole lot more than your average cow. He’s also probably not great at hide-and-seek, although we’re not sure that’s a skill that’s particularly useful for a cow.

All joking aside, we’ve got to admit that we’re pretty impressed by Romeo’s height. It’s not every day that you hear about a cow that is taller than most people. We’ll be waiting eagerly to hear whether he’s officially crowned the tallest steer in the world, and we’re hoping that he uses his newfound fame to inspire other cows to reach for the stars (or at least the hay bales).
