Seattle Woman’s Rubber Duck Collection Grows To Over 5,600: “I Never Saw This Coming”

In a shocking turn of events, a Seattle woman has admitted to having a rubber duck obsession that has spiraled out of control. What started as a harmless collection of seven rubber ducks has now turned into a hoard of 5,631, crowding her small apartment and filling every nook and cranny.

“I never saw this coming,” she admitted to reporters. “I thought seven was a good number, but then I found one that was wearing a little bowtie and I couldn’t resist. And then I found another that was wearing a top hat and monocle, and things just kind of snowballed from there.”

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous due to fear of judgment from friends and family, says that her rubber duck collection has taken over her life and she is now unable to leave her apartment without tripping over a constantly expanding sea of yellow and rubber.

“I just can’t stop,” she said, clutching a rubber duck with a Santa hat glued to its head. “Every time I see a new one, I think, ‘Oh, that one would look great next to the one wearing the bowtie.’ And before I know it, I’ve got another 50 ducks in my collection.”

When asked about the practicality of collecting such a large number of rubber ducks, the woman was quick to defend her hobby.

“I mean, what’s the point of any collection, really?” she said, gesturing towards a wall literally covered in rubber ducks. “Some people collect stamps or coins or weird little spoons that say ‘I love Wyoming.’ At least my collection is cute.”

Despite the chaos and clutter caused by her growing collection, the woman says that she has no plans to stop anytime soon.

“I know it’s weird, but I just love my rubber ducks,” she said, smiling wistfully at a rubber duck holding a tiny saxophone. “They bring me joy, you know? And honestly, in this day and age, we could all use a little more joy in our lives.”

While some may scoff at the idea of collecting thousands of rubber ducks, others are embracing the woman’s quacky passion with open arms.

“I think it’s amazing that she’s found something that brings her so much happiness,” said one neighbor, who has grown accustomed to the constant sound of rubber ducks squeaking. “I mean, sure, it’s a little bizarre, but who am I to judge? Live and let quack, I say.”

As for the woman’s future plans for her collection, she says that she is currently in talks with the Guinness World Records to see if she can earn a spot for “largest rubber duck collection.”

“I mean, why not?” she said, shrugging. “If you’re going to do something, you might as well do it to the fullest, right?”
