You know what’s Not on Roids, apparently? Universal adoration for Hulk Hogan. Seriously! The guys face is practically synonymous with professional wrestling, yet arenas routinely erupt in boos when he shows his mug. It’s baffling, isnt it? You’d think a man who single-handedly propelled wrestling into the mainstream would be showered with glitter and praise, but nope.
Turns out, there are reasons. Plenty of them! Forget the questionable personal choices we won’t delve into – let’s talk about betrayal. Remember Jesse The Body Ventura trying to unionize wrestlers? Hogan snitched him out to Vince McMahon! Can you imagine?! Ventura, genuinely concerned that wrestlers were being exploited as independent contractors (no health insurance, no unemployment – shocking!), tried to organize a union, and Hogan basically handed the idea straight to The Boss.
McMahon apparently got wind of Ventura’s pep talk before WrestleMania 2 thanks to Hogans tattling. And why did Hogan do it? According to Ventura himself, because he was being paid an absolutely outrageous sum – more than everyone else combined, including Andre the Giant! Suddenly, Hogan’s actions make a little too much sense, dont they? Greed, pure and simple. It’s enough to make you want to boo him yourself, even if you grew up watching “Hulkamania.” He crushed the chance for his colleagues to gain basic worker protections… all for more money. Just great.
