Seriously? A Horse? On a Highway?

Right, because that’s exactly what we need. Another delay in our already agonizingly slow commutes. Apparently, someones prize-winning Andalusian decided it would be fabulous to take a leisurely stroll across Interstate 90 in the East Mountains. A horse! As if traffic wasn’t backed up enough thanks to construction and bewildered tourists trying to navigate mountain roads with rental SUVs. Now we add equine chaos to the mix.

I mean, really? Are fences just suggestions now? Is responsible animal ownership suddenly optional? Its not like people havent been warned about keeping livestock contained in areas bordering major roadways. I can practically hear the collective sigh of New Mexico State Police, already burdened with… well, everything else. They had to shut down a section of highway! A whole section! Because a four-legged creature decided it needed some fresh air and a front-row seat to oncoming traffic.

I’m sure the horse is terribly charming, undoubtedly picturesque as it pranced across asphalt, but Id rather have my travel time back, thank you very much. Perhaps next time, before letting your animal roam free, consider the consequences for everyone else trying to get somewhere – anywhere – besides a scenic meadow. It’s not a petting zoo; it’s a highway! And frankly, Im losing my mind.
