Right, let’s talk about this. A pool player. Ninety-eight years old! Apparently, hes still going strong. Strong at what exactly? Slowly maneuvering a cue stick while hoping his joints dont seize up mid-stroke? I suppose if you define “competitive” as playing against octogenarians with shaky hands and questionable eyesight, then sure, he’s crushing it.
Dont misunderstand me; longevity is generally commendable. But this feels… manufactured. A heartwarming story for the local news to trot out so they can feel good about themselves. Like we’re supposed to be inspired by someone who spends their twilight years meticulously lining up shots that would elicit groans from a ten-year-old.
And the pictures! The beaming smile, the perfectly positioned cue, the slightly blurry background… its all so relentlessly positive. Are there no photos of him complaining about his back or lamenting the decline in pool hall lighting? Of course not. We need to be told this is an example of living your best life.
Frankly, I’d rather hear someone ranting about rising grocery prices than celebrating a man’s ability to occasionally hit a colored ball into a pocket while defying all reasonable expectations of human frailty. Just… give me a break. Please.
