The Unnecessary Drama of a Deer and a Fence
Right, lets talk about this. A deer. Wedged. In a fence. Really? Is this what our news cycle has devolved to? We have wars, climate catastrophe looming, political discourse resembling a toddler’s tantrum, and we’re celebrating the heroic efforts of…people cutting a deer out of a metal fence? Honestly, Im starting to suspect animals are doing it on purpose. A performance for attention!
I mean, come on. Deer roam free. They have antlers! They possess a certain level of spatial awareness, presumably. Did this creature just blindly blunder into the thing? Or was it attempting some elaborate mating display involving entanglement with industrial landscaping? We deserve answers!
And then, of course, we need photos. Close-ups, wide shots, slow motion replays of the rescue operation. As if anyone truly needed to witness the painstaking process of sawing through galvanized steel to liberate a creature that probably just wanted to eat someone’s prize-winning roses.
Its all so performative. So utterly pointless. While I appreciate the sentiment behind wanting to help an animal in distress, can we please reserve our fanfare for something marginally more consequential than a deer making questionable life choices and getting stuck? Just cut it out of the fence, take some pictures for your own satisfaction, and let the poor creature wander off without turning its misfortune into a viral sensation. Honestly.
