Flour Power? Seriously?
So, apparently, in Galaxidi, Greece, people are gleefully pelting each other with dyed flour. A “flour war,” they call it. Because flinging powdery substances at random individuals is exactly what our world needs right now. I mean, really? We’re facing climate change, political unrest, the existential dread of late-stage capitalism… and this is headline news? People are actively choosing to participate in a chaotic mess-making competition?
I can just picture it: perfectly Instagrammable scenes of supposedly joyful citizens covered head-to-toe in brightly colored dust. They’re probably declaring it a “tradition,” steeped in centuries of profound cultural significance, while simultaneously coughing and trying to wipe the grit out of their eyes. I bet the cleanup is thrilling. The local dry cleaners are having a field day, Im sure.
And dont even get me started on the sheer wastefulness. All that flour! It could be feeding people, helping farmers… but no, let’s just chuck it at each other in a performative display of… what? Festivity? A desperate cry for attention? I shudder to think.
Honestly, Im going back to reading about actual important things. Like how to survive the impending apocalypse. At least that has some purpose.
