Local technicians at a car service center were in for a real treat when they discovered a kitten hiding in the engine of an unsuspecting customer’s car during an oil change yesterday.
The technicians, who were meant to be servicing the car, were understandably baffled by the strange meowing sounds coming from under the hood of the car, until they popped open the bonnet and discovered the kitten nestled inside the engine.
“It was a real surprise to see a cute little kitten hiding out in there,” said one of the technicians, trying to hide his bemusement. “I mean, where do these cats even come from? Do they just pop out of nowhere?”
Despite the initial excitement, the technicians say they were able to safely extract the kitten from the engine and place it in a cardboard box for safekeeping until the owner of the car could be contacted.
“We didn’t want to just leave the kitten in the engine, of course,” said another technician, with a straight face. “But we also didn’t want to let the little guy go out into the wild, you never know what kind of trouble it could get into.”
The technicians say they were hesitant to call animal control or the local shelter, as they feared the kitten would be put up for adoption, which is clearly a fate worse than anything that could happen to it.
Instead, they bravely took it upon themselves to care for the kitten, feeding it milk and tiny bits of tuna, much to the delight of Instagram followers.
When the car’s owner was finally contacted, he was reportedly shocked to learn about the kitten in his engine, as he had always thought that strange noises coming from his car were simply part of the “car engine symphony.” He was even more surprised to find out that the technicians had been playing with his car so much that they had discovered the little feline.
“I had no idea that my car could produce such beautiful sounds,” he said. “But I guess it’s just another testament to the quality of service these technicians provide.”
Overall, the kitten’s discovery has been a real morale booster for the service center, with staff saying that it has helped to “lighten the mood” during an otherwise dreary day of changing oil filters and diagnosing check engine lights.
“We’re not used to having such adorable creatures crawling out of car engines,” said another technician, gazing lovingly at the kitten curled up in its box. “But hey, anything can happen when you bring your car in for service, right?”
Despite the excitement, the technicians say that they are more than happy to return to their usual duties of overcharging customers for simple car repairs and quoting exorbitant prices for unnecessary vehicle maintenance. The kitten, however, will always be remembered as the most exciting thing that ever happened to them at work.
