A Deer in Need? Really?
Seriously? This is what were prioritizing now? New York City police, lauded heroes battling crime and protecting our streets… rescuing a deer with a bag stuck on its head? I’m trying to imagine the urgent dispatch: “Officer down! Code Red! A majestic creature is experiencing mild inconvenience!”
I mean, bless the poor animal, its probably not thrilled about having plastic draped over its antlers. But did we really need a full-scale police operation for this? Couldn’t some concerned citizen with scissors and a bit of common sense have handled the situation? I suspect a well-placed YouTube tutorial would have sufficed.
The press release, undoubtedly brimming with carefully crafted sentimentality about “compassion” and “protecting wildlife,” probably glosses over the fact that these are the same officers who occasionally spend their time ticketing jaywalkers and meticulously documenting dropped ice cream cones. Now they’re deer-bag removal specialists? Fantastic. Just what we needed.
Im all for animal welfare, truly I am. But lets put things into perspective. While police bravely liberate a bewildered deer from a plastic prison, there are actual problems festering in this city that could probably benefit from slightly more attention. You know, like affordable housing, or perhaps addressing the rising cost of… well, everything.
But hey, at least we got some heartwarming photos for social media. That’s progress, right?
