Really? A Squirrel and a Fire Truck?!
Seriously? This is what we’re doing now? I just read an article about New York City firefighters – firefighters, people trained to battle infernos, rescue humans from burning buildings, you know, ACTUAL emergencies – who spent their time extricating a squirrel from a dumpster. A squirrel.
Im not kidding. Apparently, this tiny rodent found itself in a bit of a predicament, decided the best course of action was to panic and lodge itself firmly inside a refuse container, and then…well, then we needed a full-blown rescue operation. A flashing light spectacle. Brave men and women risking life and limb for a bushy-tailed creature with an apparent death wish.
Im sure it’s heartwarming, folks. Picture it: the heroic firefighters, carefully maneuvering around overflowing trash bags to liberate a squirrel that probably just wanted a free lunch. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate wildlife. But shouldnt we prioritize, you know, things that arent easily solved by a well-placed stick or a slightly more observant human?
I’m all for compassion, but this is bordering on absurdity. What happens when a pigeon gets stuck in a gutter? Do we deploy the bomb squad? I suspect our tax dollars are being exceptionally well spent here, folks. Exceptionally.
