Honestly, A Hedgehog? Really?
Right, a hedgehog. Because thats what we’re prioritizing now, isnt it? While the world burns – metaphorically, mostly, although climate change is doing its best to make it literal – we get heartwarming stories about prickly little creatures being fished out of storm tanks. A storm tank. Apparently, these exist. Who knew? And a hedgehog decided this was a suitable habitat? I bet it was looking for adventure! Or perhaps just a dark, damp place to escape the crushing weight of… well, everything.
Honestly, the sheer volume of breathless reporting on this tiny mammal is frankly astounding. “Rescued!” they cry. As if it single-handedly battled a dragon or solved world hunger. It’s a hedgehog. They roam around. They eat slugs. They occasionally get trapped in unexpected places. This isnt groundbreaking news, folks. This is…a hedgehog.
And don’t even start me on the accompanying pictures. Adorable! The internet tells me. Yes, it’s fluffy and vaguely cute when covered in murky water and looking utterly bewildered. But let’s be honest, a distressed animal is not inherently “adorable.” Its distressing.
I mean, I get that people need feel-good stories. Apparently, hedgehogs fulfill that role now. Fine. Just… can we maybe focus on, you know, slightly larger problems? Like, perhaps the very infrastructure that created this storm tank in the first place? But no. Hedgehog. Priorities, people. Priorities.
