A Bulldogs Misadventure: Because Apparently, We Need Another Feel-Good Story
Seriously? A French bulldog? Rescued? From a small island in Florida? Is this what we’re celebrating now? While actual crises are swirling around the globe, apparently the peak of human interest is a squishy, flat-faced dog experiencing mild discomfort.
Lets be clear: I’m sure the little guy is grateful to be out of whatever predicament he found himself in. But do we really need a full news cycle dedicated to documenting his soggy misery? I bet there are starving children somewhere who would have benefitted from all the attention this canine drama has garnered. Just saying.
And Florida! The state where iguanas fall from trees and hurricanes are practically annual events, decides that this is newsworthy. A dog got wet. Groundbreaking.
Im not insensitive; I understand the appeal of a heartwarming tale. But couldnt we find one featuring, say, a dedicated volunteer organization combating homelessness or scientists working tirelessly on climate solutions? Instead, we get a feature story about a pampered pooch who likely has more Instagram followers than most actual humans.
Honestly, it’s exhausting. Just…exhausting. Can we please move on now? I need to go scream into a pillow.
