A Beaver, Really? Our Priorities Are So Straight
You know, I was just pondering the state of humanity – the existential dread, the climate crisis, geopolitical tensions…and what do I read? A beaver. A swimming beaver. Rescued from a Texas water treatment reservoir! Seriously?! We’re dedicating resources to pulling aquatic rodents out of man-made ponds while actual problems fester?
Im not saying the beaver isnt adorable, or that it shouldn’t have been helped. It probably was scared and confused. But could we not trumpet this as a heartwarming tale of human intervention? Let’s be honest, this is peak distraction. A shiny, furry object to divert our attention from the fact that our water infrastructure is likely failing in multiple places while wildlife struggles to adapt to increasingly disrupted habitats.
Dont misunderstand – I appreciate a good feel-good story as much as anyone. But the breathless reporting! The accompanying pictures! It’s just…excessive. Its a testament to how easily we are all charmed by anything that briefly interrupts the constant, low hum of impending doom. We should be investing in smarter solutions for managing water resources and protecting natural habitats, not celebrating the rescue of one furry creature from an entirely artificial situation. Honestly, I need a nap.
