Hyena flees from cheetahs in thrilling near-death experience
A hapless hyena was left running for its life after a chance encounter with two ferocious cheetahs whilst out on a leisurely stroll through the South African wild. The heart-pounding moment was caught on camera by a father and son duo on safari, who followed the action with rapt attention, hoping to capture the thrilling moment on film.
The poor hyena, perhaps a little too curious for its own good, stumbled upon the cheetahs as they prowled through the open terrain. The big cats, sensing an easy prey, immediately pounced into action, chasing the hapless hyena down and sending it fleeing for its life.
It was a scene straight from the pages of your favorite adventure novel – the hunted, frantic hyena darting through the underbrush, the fierce cheetahs hot on its tail, snarling and snapping at its heels. It was unclear who would emerge victorious from the encounter, but the father and son duo on safari were certainly enjoying the show.

It’s unclear what happened to the hyena after it escaped into the water, but it’s safe to assume that it lived to fight another day. And as for the cheetahs, well, they’ll just have to keep hunting if they want to eat tonight.
