**BREAKING: Furry Frenzy Erupts on Soccer Field as Mischievous Raccoon Crashes Game**

In a bizarre incident that has left fans and players alike in stitches, a daring raccoon invaded the pitch during a Major League Soccer match between the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United, bringing play to a screeching halt for a whopping 161 seconds.

The masked bandit, estimated to be around 2 years old and sporting a particularly plump and mischievous demeanor, sauntered onto the field in the 65th minute, sending players and officials scrambling to shoo it away.

“I was just trying to enjoy the game when suddenly this little guy comes bounding onto the field, sniffing around like it owned the place,” said Red Bulls midfielder, Aaron Long. “I mean, I’ve seen some weird things in soccer before, but this was on a whole other level. I was like, ‘Is this a new kind of goal celebration?'”

The raccoon, who has been dubbed “Rocky” by fans, seemed entirely unimpressed by the commotion it was causing, nonchalantly sniffing around the penalty area and pausing to inspect a discarded water bottle.

“It was like it was trying to figure out how to get a snack or something,” chuckled D.C. United goalkeeper, Bill Hamid. “I’ve seen some bold animals in my day, but this guy was on a whole different level. I was waiting for it to pull out a tiny little soccer ball and start juggling.”

As the 22,000-strong crowd erupted into laughter and cheers, groundskeepers and security personnel scrambled to corral the cunning critter, eventually coaxing it off the field with a trail of discarded nachos.

“It was a real Zoo-keep-away situation,” quipped Red Bulls coach, Chris Armas. “But seriously, we’ve had some weird weather delays in our time, but this was the first time we’ve ever had to deal with a furry little trespasser.”

The game resumed after a 2-minute, 41-second delay, with the Red Bulls ultimately emerging victorious 2-1 over D.C. United.

When asked about the incident post-game, Red Bulls star, Bradley Wright-Phillips, quipped, “Well, I guess you could say we had a bit of a ‘wild’ time out there. But hey, at least it made for a good story.”

**UPDATE:** The raccoon, Rocky, has been adopted as the official mascot for the New York Red Bulls, and will be making appearances at future games. When asked about its newfound fame, Rocky simply shrugged and went back to sniffing around for snacks.
