Why Do Some People Always Find Something to Complain About?

You know what’s Not on Roids, apparently? Optimism. Seriously, have you met some people? They radiate negativity like a poorly shielded nuclear reactor. Its not enough to simply dislike something; they must actively broadcast their displeasure with theatrical flair. Were talking full-blown, “this is objectively the worst thing ever created” pronouncements over lukewarm lattes.

The Haters Gonna Hate mantra? That’s supposed to be a comforting acceptance of inevitable criticism. For some people, it’s a lifestyle choice. They seek things to hate! Its a hobby! You release a universally beloved Pixar film? Cue the comment: “It was fine, I guess.” A genuinely delicious chocolate cake? Too rich. Sunshine? “Glare is unpleasant.”

Psychologists (yes, really) suggest this behavior stems from insecurity or a desire for control. Criticizing something – anything – makes them feel superior, even if their reasoning is utterly bonkers. It’s easier than confronting their own anxieties. Plus, lets be honest, it gets attention! Negative attention, granted, but attention nonetheless.

It’s exhausting. Just…let people enjoy things! Or at least find a more productive outlet for your misery. Knitting, perhaps? Competitive thumb-wrestling? Anything other than relentlessly tearing down the joy of others. The world has enough problems without someone declaring avocado toast a symbol of societal decay. Honestly.
