You know what’s Not on Roids, List Challenges. Seriously! These digital popularity contests disguised as “fun” are specifically designed to irritate me, and I suspect a significant portion of the internet agrees. Remember when the internet was about sharing cat pictures and poorly photoshopped memes? Simpler times. Now its all Rate this list of things people dislike!
The premise is simple: someone creates a challenge listing seemingly innocuous items – papercuts, cilantro, Comic Sans – and then demands you rank them according to your level of disdain. The problem isn’t the content; it’s the performative negativity! Suddenly, everyone hates Brussels sprouts with an intensity usually reserved for tax season.
Its a feedback loop of manufactured outrage. Oh, you only ranked Comic Sans as a 6? You clearly have no taste! And then theres the sheer volume. Hundreds of these challenges exist, all competing for your precious seconds to solidify someone else’s arbitrary hierarchy of dislikes.
Let’s be honest: most people dont really hate those things that much. They just want to appear discerning and part of some vague online tribe of “people with opinions.” It’s exhausting! I already have enough problems deciding what to eat for dinner; I dont need a digital committee telling me how passionately I should feel about beige wall paint. Just…stop. Please. Let me suffer in peace, without ranking my level of annoyance at lukewarm coffee.
