Honestly, folks, Im trying to maintain a semblance of sanity here, but this news just pushes me closer to the brink. Apparently, a snake at some British college has defied all logic and common sense again and pulled off another virgin birth. Yes, you read that right. A SNAKE. Having BABIES. Without a male counterpart. Because apparently biology is just a suggestion now.
I mean, seriously? Do we even bother with explaining things anymore? It’s fascinating, they say. A rare genetic anomaly, the experts chirp. Rare?! I bet its becoming as common as people claiming their avocado toast is artisanal.
And what are we supposed to learn from this, exactly? That science can explain anything? That nature is full of whimsical surprises? Or that journalists need something fluffy and distracting to report when actual important things are happening in the world? Probably the latter.
