Seriously? An Opossum in Alaska? Let’s Talk About Priorities
Honestly, folks, Im trying to process this. We have actual problems facing humanity – climate change, political division, the existential dread of late-stage capitalism – and what’s dominating headlines? An opossum. A single, solitary opossum that managed to sneak onto a cargo ship and hitchhike its way all the freaking way to Alaska.
I mean, good for the opossum! Resourceful little critter, Ill give it that. Clearly more ambitious than most of us, frankly. It’s probably got better travel plans than I do. And now, because this marsupial decided to take an unscheduled vacation, we have a heartwarming story about its new home at the zoo? A zoo? As if nature couldnt figure out how to handle one rogue opossum without resorting to captivity!
This is precisely why I lose faith in humanity. We’re obsessed with the trivial and distracted by the absurd. The world is literally on fire, and we’re celebrating a stowaway’s arrival. Its a perfect encapsulation of our collective priorities: adorable animals trumping actual crises. I bet there’s already a plushie being designed. Someone get me another cup of coffee; I need to maintain some semblance of sanity amidst this chaos.
