Seriously? An Elephant and a Delayed Zoo Opening?!
You know, Im starting to suspect the universe has a personal vendetta against New Mexico. Just when you think things might be remotely normal – like, say, a zoo finally opening after… how long has it been already? – BAM! An elephant decides to stage a dramatic escape and throw a wrench in everything.
Because of course it did. Of all the things that could go wrong, an elephant strolls out of its designated area? Im picturing some bored construction worker whispering, Yeah, just leave a little gap there; what’s the worst that could happen? Apparently, this was the worst that could happen.
And let’s be honest, it’s probably going to cost a fortune in repairs and wasted time. The poor taxpayers of New Mexico are going to foot the bill for this pachyderm-powered postponement. Well all be hearing about “safety assessments” and enhanced security measures. As if a little chain link fence was ever truly going to contain an animal that weighs several tons!
Really, it’s just…perfect. A monumentally silly, expensive, and utterly predictable delay. Im sure the children of New Mexico are absolutely thrilled they wont get to see the new exhibits… anytime soon. Just fantastic.
