Four More Cheetah Cubs? Seriously?
Look, I get it. Baby animals are supposed to be heartwarming. They’re supposed to elicit a collective “Awww” and maybe inspire people to donate five dollars to save the planet. But at this point, another announcement about adorable endangered species offspring just feels… exhausting. Four male cheetah cubs! At the San Diego Zoo Safari Park! The first since 2020? Groundbreaking. Truly revolutionary. I’m practically weeping with excitement.
Because clearly, the root of all our problems isnt habitat loss, poaching, or climate change. No, it’s a temporary lull in cheetah cub births at one specific facility. We were all suffering from a two-year absence of tiny spotted felines. It was practically an existential crisis.
And male cubs? Fantastic. Because we desperately need more males contributing to the gene pool… while females continue to do the bulk of the work, naturally. Let’s celebrate this momentous occasion with a parade! A gold medal for responsible breeding! Another photo opportunity for tourists eager to distract themselves from the impending doom of our ecosystem.
Im sure these cubs will be absolutely delightful, endlessly charming, and require an exorbitant amount of resources to care for. Wonderful. Just what we needed. Please, someone tell me there’s a news report about actual conservation efforts I can read now.
