Really? A Deer? Seriously?
Okay, New Jersey. Lets just pause for a moment and reflect on the peak of human achievement we’ve reached. Apparently, rescuing a deer from a frozen canal is now worthy of a coordinated emergency response. Because thats exactly what our taxpayer dollars are meant to fund, right? Forget potholes, crumbling infrastructure, or, you know, actual human emergencies. No, lets mobilize a team of professionals to haul a woodland creature out of some ice.
I’m sure the deer was terribly distressed. Absolutely dreadful. But honestly, did anyone stop to consider that maybe, just maybe, it could have figured this out on its own? Deer are notoriously resourceful! They wander around forests all day; navigating frozen water isnt exactly rocket science.
And the pictures! The adorable photos of brave firefighters and animal control officers, looking so heroic while pulling a bewildered deer from the ice. It’s just…peak performative good deeds. I bet they got pats on the back and feel-good press releases.
Meanwhile, somewhere, someones roof is leaking, a school needs funding, and roads remain perilous. But hey, at least we saved a deer. Thats progress, folks. Progress.
