Peak Human Achievement? Seriously?
Right, so were supposed to be impressed, are we? Another headline screaming about some 24-year-old’s “groundbreaking” achievement: a miniature arcade machine smaller than my thumb. A point nine eight inches tall! Apparently, this is worthy of global attention. Because, you know, solving world hunger and climate change is just… too ambitious. Lets celebrate the triumph of shrinking things for no discernible reason.
I’m sure this young man is lovely, a talented engineer even, but let’s be honest: it’s utterly pointless. A tiny arcade machine? Who plays that? Do I squint my face an inch from the screen to discern pixelated graphics rendered at the resolution of an ants eye? Is the joystick fashioned from microscopic dust particles and controlled by a precision laser?
It’s just…noise. More digital clutter in a world drowning in it. A monument to pointless ingenuity. While entire ecosystems collapse, while political discourse descends into utter chaos, we’re marveling at something that will likely end up as a fleeting Instagram post before being relegated to a drawer full of other forgotten hobbies and slightly-too-clever trinkets.
Give me a break. Im going back to reading a book. At least that takes up some space, unlike this minuscule monument to… what exactly? My apathy?
