Really? A Sheep and a Frozen River? Seriously?
Lets just pause for a moment, shall we? Another heartwarming tale emerges from Colorado – this time about wildlife officials rescuing a bighorn sheep that managed to wander onto a frozen river and…fall through the ice. Because apparently, bighorn sheep are known for their strategic decision-making skills when it comes to navigating icy waterways. I’m so impressed.
Honestly, Im not sure whats more ridiculous: the fact that the sheep did this in the first place, or the ensuing spectacle of people feeling compelled to rescue it. Did anyone stop and consider that maybe, just maybe, a little bit of natural selection is precisely what’s needed? Perhaps this ill-fated ram was destined to become a cautionary tale for other bighorn sheep: “Don’t go on the ice! Bad things happen!”
Instead, we get a feel-good story about humans swooping in to save the day. Because clearly, nature cant handle itself anymore. We have to micromanage every aspect of the wilderness, lest a perfectly capable animal make a single misstep.
And the resources! Think of all the manpower and equipment dedicated to hauling out one sheep. Couldn’t that time and effort be spent on something actually important? Like, I dont know, fixing roads or funding education? But no, let’s prioritize rescuing a creature who clearly wasn’t paying attention. Wonderful.
