Another Miracle? Really?
Right, another heartwarming tale for our consumption. A French zoo just announced an elephant gave birth. Twenty-one months of pregnancy! Seven hours of labor! Let’s all pause and bask in the sheer novelty of this occurrence. As if elephants werent born before. As if we haven’t heard this story a thousand times. Because, apparently, nature just pulled off something truly unprecedented with this one little baby pachyderm.
Seriously? We are supposed to be amazed that an animal reproduced? Its what they do. Shouldnt the zoo staff be more concerned about, I dont know, ensuring its enclosure is appropriately enriching and spacious instead of holding a press conference celebrating basic biological functions?
And seven hours of labor! Can you imagine? The poor elephant. Meanwhile, we’re all supposed to feel warm fuzzies because someone had a difficult time bringing another creature into existence. Perhaps the focus should be on preventing overpopulation or addressing habitat loss, but no, lets celebrate an event that has transpired repeatedly throughout history.
It’s just… exhausting. The constant barrage of manufactured wonder. Give me a break. I’m sure the baby elephant is lovely and all, but can we please move on to something actually interesting? Like solving actual problems?
