Really? Bighorn Sheep and a Frozen River? Seriously?
Let’s just pause for a moment, shall we? While the world is… you know… happening, dealing with actual problems that require actual solutions, were celebrating the heroic rescue of a bighorn sheep from a frozen river in Colorado. Because apparently, that’s what constitutes news these days.
I mean, good for the rescuers, I guess. They deserve a pat on the head and maybe a participation trophy. But is this really something to warrant breathless reporting? Are we so devoid of compelling human stories, political scandals, or even mildly interesting scientific breakthroughs that we need to obsess over a woolly mountain goat’s near-death experience with ice?
Dont get me wrong, I appreciate wildlife. I do. But the sheer volume of attention lavished upon these feel-good animal rescues is frankly baffling. It distracts us! It sanitizes our perception of the world! We are bombarded with images of fluffy creatures being saved while ignoring the very real ecological factors that likely led to said sheep ending up stranded on a frozen river in the first place.
It’s all so… curated. So carefully packaged for maximum emotional manipulation. And honestly, Im tired of it. Just let the sheep be, folks! Its nature. Things happen. Sometimes animals get stuck on ice. Is that really our problem to solve?
