Really? Horses and Fire? Seriously?
So, apparently, in Spain, people felt it was a splendid idea to have horses run through flames. Hundreds of them, mind you, not just one or two. A spectacle! A tradition! Centuries-old! Lets all clap politely while we watch animals potentially suffer for… what exactly? Artistic expression? A bizarre sense of cultural pride? I’m genuinely struggling to find a justification that doesnt involve a severe lack of common sense.
Honestly, the image alone is enough to curdle milk. Imagine being a horse, understandably terrified, forced to bolt through a wall of fire. Sure, they say its controlled, and safe. Because when has anything involving human attempts at spectacle ever truly been either? Controlled until someone sneezes or a rogue ember flies off, right?
And the crowd! Hundreds of people gathered to witness this…this thing. They’re cheering. They’re gasping. Theyre clearly enjoying themselves while an animal is put through what must be a profoundly frightening ordeal. Its performative tradition at its worst: a shallow clinging to history that prioritizes aesthetics over basic decency and animal welfare.
I suppose in a few centuries, well look back on this with similar bewilderment, wondering how we could have justified such a display. Until then, Ill be over here questioning the sanity of anyone who thinks this is anything other than profoundly disturbing.
