Really? Cheetah Mummies in Saudi Arabia? Groundbreaking.
Honestly, at this point, does anything surprise me anymore? We’re all supposed to be thrilled, apparently, about cheetah mummies found in caves in northern Saudi Arabia. Seven of them! Dating back a ludicrously wide range – from 130 years old (seriously, who preserves a 130-year-old cheetah?), to over 1800?! What were they doing? Just hanging out in caves for millennia? Waiting for us to dig them up and write incredibly bland press releases about their historical significance?
I’m sure these scientists are patting themselves on the back, declaring this a monumental discovery. “A glimpse into the past!” theyll exclaim. Yes, a glimpse of what? Cheetahs being inconveniently trapped in caves? It’s not like we didn’t know cheetahs used to live there. I mean, its a desert. They adapted! They survived! Now we have dusty remains to marvel at while the planet burns and actual living cheetahs are teetering on the brink of extinction.
Forgive me if I’m not overwhelmed with excitement about ancient feline bones when there are pressing issues demanding attention. It feels a bit like celebrating finding a chipped teacup while Rome is, you know… well, you get the idea. Lets prioritize saving the living cheetahs, shall we? Just a thought.
