A Wallaby in a Pool? Seriously?!
Right, lets talk about this. A wallaby. In South Carolina. Escaped from somewhere and found swimming laps in a backyard pool. I’m just…processing. Because apparently, wildlife encounters now involve exotic marsupials taking a dip instead of, you know, existing appropriately in their natural habitat.
Honestly, the sheer absurdity of it all! People are posting pictures, cooing about how adorable this displaced creature is. Adorable? It’s an escaped animal thats potentially stressed and disoriented! And someone had to rescue it from a chlorine-filled pit. I picture them, casually sipping lemonade, then suddenly, there’s a wallaby.
And the inevitable follow-up: How did it get there? As if we need to unravel a complex mystery involving trained seals and tiny helicopters. Did someone decide to redecorate their yard with Australian fauna? Did the wallaby just wander in off its own volition after deciding South Carolina was a superior vacation destination?
Im not saying people shouldn’t be concerned for the animals wellbeing, but can we dial back on the delighted astonishment? Its bizarre. Just incredibly, wonderfully bizarre. And frankly, it highlights how our expectations of normal have completely gone off the rails. A wallaby in a pool. What next? Penguins playing volleyball? I swear…
