Seriously? A dog. Rescued. From a mountainside. In California. Let’s just pause for a moment, shall we? While wildfires rage, infrastructure crumbles, and the planet slowly cooks itself into oblivion, were dedicating significant resources – significant – to retrieving a furry companion who apparently decided scaling a rocky precipice was a fantastic afternoon activity.
Dont get me wrong; I like dogs. They’re fluffy, occasionally amusing, and provide convenient excuses for early morning walks. But honestly? The sheer volume of breathless reporting on this canine adventure is astounding. Headlines screaming about heroic rescuers and the miracle survival of… a dog. A dog.
Im not suggesting we abandon all compassion. I’m simply questioning the optics. Where were these dramatic rescue teams when Grandma Mildred got stuck in an elevator last Tuesday? Did anyone dedicate a live news feed to her plight? No! Because, apparently, a canine’s distress is far more compelling than an elderly woman’s.
Its just… peak modern society, isnt it? We celebrate the sentimental while ignoring the systemic. We gush over fluffy tails and wagging tongues while the foundations of our world literally crack beneath our feet. A dog off a mountain gets more attention than affordable housing. Go figure.
