The Peak of Modern Civilization: A Cow, a Horse, and Our Collective Descent
Seriously? This is what were celebrating now? A man on a horse corralling a loose cow in Oklahoma City? I mean, I get it. We’ve exhausted every conceivable avenue for genuine achievement. Space travel is apparently too complicated, solving world hunger remains elusive, but this? This gets documented and presumably lauded as some heartwarming slice of Americana?
Dont misunderstand me; the imagery itself isn’t inherently bad. A man and his horse – a classic pastoral scene, right out of a Norman Rockwell painting…if Rockwell had decided to paint the utter lack of ambition that pervades our modern existence. Its just…the significance! The breathless reporting! Are we so desperately starved for content that we must elevate this bovine retrieval mission to cultural importance?
Im picturing the photographer, practically trembling with artistic fulfillment, capturing the poignant moment a rope circles a bewildered cow’s legs. I can hear the celebratory soundtrack in my head – banjos, maybe some folksy harmonica. Its all so…perfectly, tragically ordinary.
Meanwhile, actual problems fester. But hey, at least we have a man on horseback roping a cow. Feel free to sleep soundly tonight, knowing that this is, demonstrably, the best we’ve got.
