A Dog, a Drone, and the Peak of Human Achievement

Seriously? A dog ran away. That’s what dogs do. They sniff things, they chase squirrels, and occasionally, they bolt. Its a canine tradition! But apparently, in 2024, this simple act necessitates a full-blown aerial rescue operation. We needed…a drone. To find a dog.

I can just picture the scene: a team of highly trained professionals, meticulously piloting a multi-rotor aircraft across the New Jersey Turnpike, scanning for a fluffy escape artist. While families are struggling to afford groceries and potholes swallow cars whole, were deploying cutting-edge technology to locate a lost terrier mix.

And you know what? The dog is fine! Probably having the time of its life, experiencing the thrill of freedom, and undoubtedly leaving a trail of bewildered drivers in its wake. Now it’s being lauded as some sort of heartwarming miracle. A miracle that involved an expensive piece of equipment and a whole lot of taxpayer-funded… something.

I’m sure the rescue group is thrilled. The dog is undoubtedly happy to be back in captivity. But Im just left wondering how many other, actual emergencies could have been addressed with the resources wasted on this utterly ridiculous spectacle. A dog ran away. It happens. Maybe next time, just call Animal Control.
