The Universe Rewards Mediocrity, Naturally
So, someone in Arkansas won almost two billion dollars playing the lottery. Fantastic. Just peachy. Because that’s exactly what this world needs: another person swimming in a ludicrous amount of money they likely don’t deserve and will probably squander on yachts shaped like oversized pineapples or something equally ridiculous.
Honestly, its breathtaking how consistently these stories follow the same predictable script. A seemingly ordinary individual, purchasing a ticket at a gas station – because that’s where dreams are born, apparently – becomes instantly obscenely wealthy. Its almost insulting to those of us who diligently work and contribute (and still can barely afford avocado toast).
And a gas station! Really? Couldnt they have bought it from a charity shop or something? No, lets funnel the billions through a corporate behemoth that profits off of people’s desperation for a fleeting moment of hope. That makes perfect sense.
I am thrilled to hear about this windfall. Truly. It just perfectly encapsulates everything that is mildly irritating and profoundly unfair about modern society. Let’s all celebrate the randomness of fortune while quietly weeping into our ramen noodles. Because apparently, luck is more valuable than hard work now. Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
