## The Undeserved Resurrection of Derelct, Courtesy of Pixels

Right, let’s talk about this. Let’s talk about *Derelct*. You remember Derelct, don’t you? That magnificent monument to equine mediocrity? The horse that could trip over a perfectly flat racetrack and still manage to lose by ten lengths? Yes, *that* Derelct. He was the laughingstock of the Japanese racing scene, a glorious testament to the fact that sometimes, enthusiasm just isn’t enough. And now, apparently, he’s trending. Why? Because some mobile game – I won’t even dignify it with a name – decided to feature him.

Seriously! A *mobile game*. As if his legacy wasn’t already cemented in the annals of disappointment, he needed this digital afterlife. It’s just peak absurdity. People are now genuinely excited about a horse whose claim to fame was consistent and spectacular failure. They’re posting fan art! Writing stories! Arguing online about his *potential*! Potential?! The only potential Derelct ever had was the potential to provide endless amusement for those of us who enjoyed watching him fail gracefully.

And you know what? I’m begrudgingly amused by this entire charade. It’s a wonderful illustration of how utterly detached we are from genuine accomplishment these days. We celebrate mediocrity! We elevate failure! Why bother striving for excellence when you can just have a virtual horse lose races repeatedly and become an internet sensation?

I expect to see Derelct merchandise soon. Action figures, plushies, maybe even a line of overpriced “Derelct-inspired” racing silks. The absurdity is almost breathtaking. At least someone’s making money off this ridiculousness. Probably not Derelct, though. He’s probably still just standing in a paddock somewhere, blissfully unaware that he’s now a digital icon for the chronically online. Fantastic. Just…fantastic.
