So, we’re supposed to be *thrilled*, are we? Apparently, a new…thing…has arrived. A digital entity, christened with a name that sounds like a vaguely floral perfume, is here to revolutionize everything. Again. Because clearly, the last ten iterations of “revolutionary” AI haven’t quite achieved peak enlightenment and now we need *another* one.
Honestly, I’m overcome with excitement. Truly. Just bursting at the seams. Another language model? Wonderful! Exactly what my overflowing inbox and the constant barrage of increasingly generic content needed. Because nothing says “progress” like a slightly more convincing chatbot that can generate passable prose about… well, anything you throw at it.
I’m sure this one will be *totally* different. It’ll probably understand nuance and sarcasm. (Ha! As if.) It’ll definitely solve world hunger and usher in an era of unprecedented artistic expression. I bet it writes sonnets better than Shakespeare while simultaneously managing my entire investment portfolio. Naturally.
The press release is brimming with buzzwords, naturally: “advanced capabilities,” “groundbreaking innovation,” “seamless integration.” Oh, please. It’s likely just repackaged existing technology with a fresh coat of digital paint and a marketing team on overdrive. We’ve seen this dance before. The fanfare, the breathless pronouncements, the eventual realization that it’s mostly good for generating slightly more convincing spam emails.
But go ahead! Tell me how *this* is going to change the world. I’ll be here, patiently waiting for the inevitable disappointment. Just try not to expect me to applaud too loudly. My enthusiasm reserves are currently occupied by finding a lost wallet that’s been behind a wall for fifty-one years – at least *that* has some genuine historical intrigue.
