“Bear Necessities: Furry Friend Takes the Plunge (Literally) in California Family’s Pool”
In a move that has left neighbors scratching their heads and the family who owns the pool wondering what they’ve done to deserve this, a bear has taken up residence in a California family’s backyard…and decided to take a midnight dip in their pool.
Yes, you read that right. A bear. In someone else’s pool. At 3 am. Without permission. And without so much as a “May I?” or “Begging your pardon.”
The bear, estimated to be around three years old and weighing a whopping 200 pounds, was spotted by the family’s 10-year-old daughter, Emma, who was awoken in the middle of the night by the sound of splashing water.
“I thought it was just my brother playing pranks on me,” Emma said in an interview. “But then I looked out the window and saw this…this BEAR! Swimming laps in our pool like it owned the place.”
The family, who wishes to remain anonymous (can’t say we blame them), reported that they had been experiencing issues with their pool pump breaking down, but never thought it would attract such an unusual guest.
“We’ve had raccoons and opossums come through before, but a bear? That’s a new one,” said the family’s patriarch. “I guess you could say our pool is now officially ‘paws-itive’ for wildlife enthusiasts.”
The bear, who has since been dubbed “Gemma” by the family (after Google-ing the meaning of “Gem” and deciding it was too cliché), has been frequenting the pool every night, much to the delight of Emma’s 12-year-old brother, Max.
“It’s like having a new best friend!” Max exclaimed. “We just wish Gemma would stop stealing our pool toys.”
As for the family’s plans for dealing with their new furry roommate, they’ve decided to take the “bear-ly” approach (see what we did there?). They’ve set up a special feeding station near the pool and are even considering installing a bear-friendly water slide.
“After all,” said Emma, “Gemma seems like she’s having the time of her life. Why not share the fun?”
And so, the family waits with bated breath to see what other adventures Gemma will bring to their backyard (or should we say, “paws-trace”?). Stay tuned for further updates on this wild and woolly situation!
