**BREAKING: BUFFALO ON THE LOOSE!**

In a bizarre incident that has left residents of Surrey, British Columbia, utterly bewildered, a herd of approximately 20 water buffalo has escaped from a local farm and is now roaming freely through the city’s streets.

Eyewitnesses describe the scene as “absolute chaos” as the massive, horned creatures – some of which are reportedly as big as small cars – wander aimlessly through neighborhoods, causing traffic jams and sending pedestrians running for cover.

“I was just on my way to grab a coffee when suddenly, out of nowhere, a buffalo appeared in front of me,” said local resident, Jane Doe. “I mean, I’ve seen some weird things in Surrey before, but this was on a whole other level. I thought I was in a scene from ‘The Revenant’ or something!”

The buffalo, which appear to be in high spirits, have been spotted strolling down main roads, exploring backyards, and even taking a leisurely dip in a residential pool.

“I was having a BBQ in my backyard when suddenly, a buffalo just waltzed in and started munching on my garden gnomes,” said Surrey resident, Bob Smith. “I was like, ‘Uh, is this a prank?’ But then I saw the look in its eye and I was like, ‘Nope, this is just a buffalo having a great time’.”

Authorities have been scrambled to contain the situation, but so far, efforts to corral the wayward buffalo have been met with limited success.

“We’re doing our best to safely round up the buffalo and return them to their farm of origin,” said a spokesperson for the Surrey RCMP. “But to be honest, these guys are like the Houdinis of the animal kingdom. They’re slippery, they’re sassy, and they’re clearly having the time of their lives.”

As the city struggles to regain control, residents are being advised to stay indoors and keep a safe distance from the marauding buffalo.

In the meantime, local businesses are capitalizing on the situation, selling “Buffalo on the Loose” t-shirts and offering “Wild Water Buffalo Tours” of the city.

When asked for comment, the mayor of Surrey simply shrugged and said, “Well, at least they’re not bears. Yet.”
