**BREAKING: BLUEBERRY BOTTLE NECK BRINGS BC TRAFFIC TO A STANDSTILL**
Vancouver, BC – In a bizarre incident that has left residents of British Columbia scratching their heads, a pickup truck’s load of freshly-picked blueberries spilled all over a major highway, causing a traffic jam of epic proportions.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “a sea of purple” as an estimated 500 kilograms of juicy blueberries blanketed the asphalt, bringing traffic to a grinding halt.
“It was like a giant blueberry smoothie had exploded on the road,” said commuter, Jane Doe. “I was stuck in traffic for hours, but at least I got a sweet treat out of it.”
The truck, which was traveling from a local blueberry farm, reportedly lost its cargo when the driver took a particularly sharp turn onto Highway 1. The blueberries, which were destined for a nearby jam factory, went flying in all directions, covering multiple lanes of traffic.
“It was like a blueberry apocalypse,” said RCMP officer, Constable John Smith. “We’ve never seen anything like it. We’re just lucky no one was seriously injured, except for maybe the people who had to clean up the mess.”
The cleanup efforts, which involved a team of hazmat-suited workers and a fleet of industrial vacuum cleaners, took several hours to complete. In the meantime, traffic was diverted onto side roads, causing lengthy delays for morning commuters.
As one frustrated driver quipped, “I’ve heard of road closures due to accidents or construction, but never due to a berry-filled bonanza. I guess you could say it was a ‘jam-packed’ traffic situation!”
The incident has left many in the community shaking their heads, but also laughing at the absurdity of it all.
“I mean, who needs a traffic cone when you’ve got a sea of blueberries to navigate?” chuckled local resident, Bob Johnson.
The British Columbia Ministry of Transportation has since issued a statement assuring the public that measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
In the meantime, local blueberry farmers are capitalizing on the incident, selling “I Survived the Great Blueberry Traffic Jam” t-shirts and souvenirs.
**UPDATE:** The blueberry jam factory has announced plans to offer a special “Traffic Jam” flavor, made from the very blueberries that caused the chaos. Sales are expected to be… well, jam-packed.
