**BREAKING: HOT DOGGED: Mets Fan’s Night Turns into Saucy Snafu**
In a bizarre incident that will go down in the annals of baseball history, a hapless New York Mets fan was pelted with a barrage of hot dogs during the team’s recent “$1 Night” promotion at Citi Field.
The unsuspecting victim, identified as 32-year-old Mets superfan, Dave “The King” Kramer, was simply trying to enjoy a cheap night out at the ballpark when suddenly, hot dogs began raining down on him from all directions.
“I was just sitting there, minding my own business, when suddenly I was hit with a frankfurter to the forehead,” Kramer said in a post-game interview, sporting a rather fetching mustard stain on his Mets jersey. “I mean, I’ve heard of ‘beefing up’ the crowd, but this was ridiculous!”
According to eyewitnesses, a group of mischievous fans in the upper deck had somehow managed to sneak a stash of hot dogs into the game and were using them to launch a coordinated attack on Kramer, who was sitting in the front row.
“It was like a hot dog hurricane,” said fellow fan, Sarah Johnson. “I’ve never seen anything like it. I was laughing so hard, I snorted my nachos out my nose.”
The hot dog barrage reportedly lasted for several innings, with Kramer dodging and weaving to avoid the flying sausages. At one point, he was even hit with a stray bag of peanuts, which left him dazed and confused.
Despite the chaos, Kramer remained a good sport, laughing and joking with the other fans around him. “Hey, at least I got a free snack out of it,” he quipped.
The Mets organization has since released a statement apologizing for the incident and promising to increase security measures to prevent future hot dog-related incidents.
In related news, the team’s attendance figures have skyrocketed, with a record 44,269 fans showing up to the game – many of whom were reportedly armed with their own snacks.
When asked about the incident, Mets manager, Buck Showalter, simply shrugged and said, “Well, at least they’re showing up. Now if only we could get them to stop throwing hot dogs…”
