In a bizarre incident that has left authorities baffled and commuters bewildered, a trailer carrying 15 rambunctious goats somehow managed to break free from its restraints and make a daring escape onto the Maine Turnpike yesterday evening.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “absolute pandemonium” as the marauding goats, estimated to be about 15 in number, poured out of the trailer and onto the highway, sending cars screeching to a halt and causing a massive traffic jam.
“I was driving to work when suddenly I was face-to-face with a herd of goats,” said local resident, Jane Doe. “I mean, I’ve seen some weird things on the road before, but this was something else. I thought I was hallucinating!”
The goats, reportedly from a local farm, were said to be “feisty” and “determined” as they made their way across the turnpike, dodging cars and leaping over median barriers with ease.
