**BREAKING: Canadian Politician Sets New World Record for Most Neckties Worn at Once, Causes Traffic Jam on Parliament Hill**

Ottawa, ON – In a bizarre display of sartorial excess, Canadian politician Reginald P. Bottomsworth has set a new Guinness World Record for wearing an astonishing 330 neckties at once.

The feat, which took place on Parliament Hill, left onlookers agog and wondering if Mr. Bottomsworth had finally succumbed to the pressures of politics.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Bottomsworth, a Member of Parliament from rural Alberta, emerged from his office building at 9:00 AM sharp, dressed in a suit and… well, 330 neckties.

“It was like a sea of silk,” said one witness. “I couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought he was going to choke himself with all those ties flapping around his neck.”

The ties, which were a dazzling array of colors and patterns, seemed to stretch on forever, with some estimates suggesting they weighed as much as 50 pounds.

“I’ve always been a bit of a fashionista,” Mr. Bottomsworth explained in a post-record interview. “And I figured, why stop at just one tie when you can wear 330?”

The previous record holder, a British fashion designer, had set the mark at 275 ties. But Mr. Bottomsworth was determined to blow that record out of the water.

“It was a tough challenge,” he admitted. “I had to enlist the help of several assistants to get them all on. And at one point, I think I got a few tangled around my ears.”

The record-breaking attempt was not without its controversy, however. Some critics accused Mr. Bottomsworth of being “tacky” and “a bit too full of himself.”

But the MP remained undeterred, saying, “Hey, someone’s got to bring a bit of excitement to politics. And if that means wearing 330 ties, then so be it.”

The record is expected to be officially recognized by Guinness World Records in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, Mr. Bottomsworth is planning his next stunt: attempting to wear 500 pairs of socks at once.

**UPDATE:** The traffic jam caused by the event has been cleared, but not before several tourists got lost in the sea of ties and ended up on a wrong turn of the Ottawa River Parkway.
